عَنْ أَبِي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه أَنَّ رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قالَ: «كُلُّ أُمَّتِي يدْخُلُونَ الْجنَّةَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَبَى». قِيل: وَمَنْ يَأْبى يا رسول اللّه؟ قالَ: «منْ أَطَاعَنِي دَخَلَ الجنَّةَ، ومنْ عصَانِي فَقَدْ أَبَى» رواه البخاري.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'All of my nation will enter Paradise except those who refuse.' It was said: 'And who would refuse, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.' Narrated by al-Bukhari.

أبى: امتنع، والمقصود ترك طاعة اللّه ورسوله.
Refuse (aba): To decline or abstain; the intended meaning is abandoning obedience to Allah and His Messenger.

أن العبد مخيَّر، لأنّ دخول الجنَّة رهن اختياره. دخول الجنَّة مشروط بطاعة اللّه تعالى وطاعة رسوله. كل تعبُّد لا يُوافِق هَديَ رسول اللّه صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم لا يدخل في طاعته، وبالتالي فهو داخل في معصيته.
The servant has free will, for entering Paradise depends upon his own choice. Entering Paradise is conditional upon obedience to Allah the Most High and obedience to His Messenger. Every act of worship that does not conform to the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) does not fall within obedience to him, and therefore falls within disobedience to him.
