On the authority of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'My parable and yours is like that of a man who kindled a fire, and grasshoppers and moths began falling into it while he tries to push them away from it. I am holding you back from the Fire by your waistbands, but you are slipping from my hands.' Narrated by Muslim.

His eagerness (peace be upon him) to prevent his nation from falling into sins that would lead them into the Fire. The Prophet (peace be upon him) likened his clarification of Allah's limits, prohibitions, and forbidden matters to the lighting of that fire. The Prophet's (peace be upon him) keenness and mercy toward his nation, for he left no good except that he guided them to it, and no evil that would certainly harm them except that he warned them against it. The world has an allure that dazzles those of weak insight, causing them to be deceived by its adornments and desires, distracting them from what they were created for. The ignorance of many people drags them toward punishment in the Fire of Hell.
