عن ابن عبّاس، رضيَ اللّه عنهما، قال: قَامَ فينَا رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم بمَوْعِظَةٍ فقال: «يا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ محشورونَ إِلَى اللّه تَعَالَى حُفَاةً عُرَاةً غُرْلًا {كَمَا بَدَأْنَا أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍ نُعِيدُهُ وَعْدًا علَيْنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا فَاعِلِينَ} [ الأنبياء: ١٠٤] أَلا وَإِنَّ أَوَّلَ الْخَلائِقِ يُكْسى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِبراهيم صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، أَلا وإِنَّهُ سَيُجَاء بِرِجَالٍ مِنْ أُمَّتي، فَيُؤْخَذُ بِهِمْ ذَاتَ الشِّمال فأَقُولُ: يارَبِّ أَصْحَابِي، فيُقَالُ: إِنَّكَ لا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ، فَأَقُولُ كَما قَالَ الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ: {وكُنْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهيدًا ما دُمْتُ فِيهمْ} إِلَى قولِهِ: {العَزِيز الحَكيمُ} [ المائدة: ١١٧- ١١٨ ] فَيُقَالُ لِي: إِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَزَالُوا مرْتَدِّينَ عَلَى أَعقَابِهِمْ مُنذُ فارَقْتَهُمْ». متفقٌ عليه.
On the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood among us delivering an admonition and said: 'O people, you will be gathered before Allah the Most High barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. {As We began the first creation, so shall We restore it — a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We shall fulfill it} [al-Anbiya: 104]. Verily, the first of creation to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibrahim (peace be upon him). And indeed, some men from my nation will be brought and taken to the left. I will say: "O Lord, my companions!" And it will be said: "You do not know what they introduced after you." So I will say as the righteous servant said: {And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them} — to His saying — {the Almighty, the Wise} [al-Ma'idah: 117-118]. And it will be said to me: "They never ceased turning on their heels since you left them."' Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

غرْلًا: يعني غير مختونين. ذات الشمال: أي جهة النار. العبد الصالح: أي عيسى عليه السلام. برجال من أمتي: فيها إشارة إلى من وقعت منهم الردّة بعد وفاة النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم من بعض قبائل العرب، وقاتلهم الصدّيق والصحابة رضي اللّه عنهم أجمعين .
Uncircumcised (ghurlan): Meaning not circumcised. To the left (dhat al-shimal): Toward the direction of the Fire. The righteous servant: Meaning Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him. Some men from my nation: This contains a reference to those who apostatized after the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him) from among some Arab tribes, and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) fought against them.

أن الخَلق يخرجون من بطون الأرض كما خرجوا من بطون أمهاتهم، حفاةً عراةً غرلًا. الحديث دليل على أن الناس يُكسَوْنَ بعد أن يخرجوا حفاةً عراةً غرلًا، ولكن اللّه أعلم بكيفية ذلك. فضيلة أبينا إبراهيم عليه الصلاة والسلام. تعذيب الذين بدّلوا وغيروا في دين اللّه تعالى، وهم قسمان: قسم ارتدوا فهم مخلّدون في النّار، وقسم وقعوا في المعصية فهم قد يعذبون وتنالهم بعدئذ شفاعة الرسول صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم. لا ينفع انتساب الإنسان إلى رسول اللّه صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم إذا لم يصاحبه العمل بسنَّته والتمسُّك بدينه. دوام تحذير الأمّة المحمّديّة في كل وقت لِئلا يخرجوا عن هديه وسنّته، إذ لا تنفعهم شفاعته مع مخالفتهم له.
All creation will emerge from the earth just as they emerged from their mothers' wombs — barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. The hadith is evidence that people will be clothed after they emerge barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised, though Allah knows best the manner of this. The virtue of our father Ibrahim (peace be upon him). The punishment of those who altered and changed the religion of Allah the Most High — they are of two categories: those who apostatized, who are eternally in the Fire, and those who fell into sin, who may be punished but may then receive the intercession of the Messenger (peace be upon him). A person's mere affiliation with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) avails him nothing if it is not accompanied by acting upon his sunnah and holding fast to his religion. The perpetual warning to the Muslim nation at all times lest they depart from his guidance and sunnah, for his intercession will not benefit them if they oppose him.
