عن أَبِي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه أَنّ رسولَ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «منْ دَعَا إِلَى هُدًى كَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الأَجْرِ مِثْلُ أُجُورِ منْ تَبِعَهُ لا ينْقُصُ ذلِكَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِم شَيْئًا، ومَنْ دَعَا إِلَى ضَلالَةٍ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الإِثْمِ مِثْلُ آثَامِ مَنْ تَبِعَهُ لا ينقُصُ ذلكَ مِنْ آثَامِهِمْ شَيْئًا» رواه مسلم.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever calls to guidance shall have a reward equal to the rewards of those who follow him, without that diminishing anything from their rewards. And whoever calls to misguidance shall bear a sin equal to the sins of those who follow him, without that diminishing anything from their sins.' Narrated by Muslim.

Calls (da'a): Urges toward it through word or deed. Guidance (hudan): Truth and goodness. Misguidance (dalalah): Falsehood and evil.

أن المتسبّب بالفعل والمباشر له مشتركان في النتيجة عقابًا أو ثوابًا. على المسلم أن يتبصَّر بعواقب الأمور ونتائج عمله، فيسعى للخير ليكون قدوة حسنة، ويجتنب الشرّ حذرًا من أن يُقتدى به. على المسلم أن يحذر من الدعوات إلى الباطل ويبتعد عن قرناء السوء، لأنّه مسؤول عما يفعل. المتسبّب في الخير يضاعف أجره، والمتسبّب في الشرّ يضاعف عقابه. أن اللّه تعالى يعطي الأجر للطّائعين بفضله، وينذر العصاة ويعذّبهم بعدله. أفضل العبادات ما كان فيه نفع متعدّ.
The one who causes a deed and the one who directly performs it share in the outcome, whether it be punishment or reward. A Muslim should be discerning about the consequences of matters and the results of his actions, striving for good to be a positive example, and avoiding evil lest others follow his example. A Muslim should be wary of calls to falsehood and distance himself from evil companions, for he is responsible for what he does. The one who causes good has his reward multiplied, and the one who causes evil has his punishment multiplied. Allah the Most High grants reward to the obedient out of His grace, and warns the disobedient and punishes them out of His justice. The best acts of worship are those whose benefit extends to others.
