On the authority of Abu Abd al-Rahman, Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever equips a warrior in the cause of Allah has himself gone to war. And whoever looks after the family of a warrior with goodness has himself gone to war.' Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
Equips (jahhaza): Prepares for him what he needs for his journey and warfare. Looks after the family of a warrior (khalafa ghaziyan fi ahlihi): Takes care of spending on his dependents and their needs during his absence. Has himself gone to war (faqad ghaza): In ruling; meaning he is credited with the reward of warfare.

Whoever assists a Muslim in jihad by preparing what he needs for his journey or by taking care of his family's affairs during his absence receives a reward equal to that of the warrior's effort and struggle. From the example of the warrior, it can be derived that whoever aids a person in obedience to Allah receives a reward equal to his, without any decrease in the doer's reward. The responsibility of jihad in the cause of Allah is not limited to one group of people; rather, it encompasses all members of the Muslim community, as each individual contributes what he can, whether through spending wealth, participating in combat, or combining both.
