عن ابنِ عباسٍ رضي اللّه عنهما أَنَّ رسُولَ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم لَقِيَ ركْبًا بالرَّوْحَاءِ فقال: «مَنِ الْقَوْمُ؟» قالُوا: المُسْلِمُونَ، فَقَالُوا: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ قال: «رسولُ اللّه» فَرَفَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًّا فَقَالَتْ: أَلهَذَا حَجٌّ؟ قال: «نَعمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ» رواه مسلم.
On the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them), that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) met a group of riders at al-Rawha and said: 'Who are these people?' They said: 'The Muslims.' They asked: 'Who are you?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah.' Then a woman raised a child up to him and said: 'Does this child have a valid pilgrimage?' He said: 'Yes, and you shall have a reward.' Narrated by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
ركبًا: جمع راكب وهو المسافر. الروحاء: مكان قرب المدينة. صبيًّا: وهو من كان دون سن البلوغ.
Riders (rakban): Plural of rakib, meaning a traveler. Al-Rawha: A place near Madinah. Child (sabiyyan): One who is below the age of puberty.

أن من كان سببًا في طاعة أو أعان عليها حصل له من الأجر كما لو باشرها. حجّ الصبيّ جائز وصحيح ويؤجر عليه، ولكن لا يُسقِط عنه حجّة الإسلام بعد البلوغ. تواضع النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم وعدم تَميُّزه عن باقي أصحابه، ولذلك سأله القوم: "من أنت؟" ليعرفوه. أنّ الإنسان ينبغي له أن يسأل عمّا يجهله إذا دعت الحاجة إلى ذلك. أنّ الصبيّ إذا حجّ به وَلِيّه فللوليّ أجر، والحجّ يكون للصبيّ حج تطوع.
Whoever is a cause of an act of obedience or assists in it receives a reward as though he performed it himself. The pilgrimage of a child is valid and permissible and he is rewarded for it, but it does not absolve him of the obligatory pilgrimage of Islam after reaching puberty. The humility of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his not distinguishing himself from the rest of his Companions; for this reason the people asked: 'Who are you?' in order to recognize him. A person should ask about what he does not know when the need arises. When a child is taken for pilgrimage by his guardian, the guardian receives a reward, and the pilgrimage counts as a voluntary pilgrimage for the child.
