عن أَبِي رُقيَّةَ تَميمِ بن أَوْس الدَّارِيِّ رضي اللّه عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ» قُلْنَا: لِمَنْ؟ قَالَ: «للّه وَلِكِتَابِهِ ولِرسُولِهِ وَلأَئمَّةِ المُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ» رواه مُسْلم.
On the authority of Abu Ruqayyah, Tamim ibn Aws al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The religion is sincere counsel.' We said: 'To whom?' He said: 'To Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the leaders of the Muslims, and to their common people.' Narrated by Muslim.

الدين: أي دين الإسلام. النصيحة: كلمة يعبّر بها عن إرادة الخير للمنصوح له. النصيحة للّه تعالى: تكون بصحة الإيمان به، والإخلاص في عبادته. النصيحة لكتاب اللّه تعالى: تكون بالتصديق به، والتزام تلاوته، والعمل بأحكامه، وعدم تحريفه. النصيحة لرسول اللّه صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم: تكون بالتصديق برسالته، وإطاعة أمره، والتمسّك بسنّته وشريعته. النصيحة لأئمَّة المسلمين: تكون بإعانتهم على الحقّ وطاعتهم في غير معصية وبيان ما وقع فيه خلل ممّا هو تحت إمرتهم بالضوابط الشرعيّة. النصيحة لعامَّتهم: أي لسائر المسلمين وتكون بإرشادهم إلى ما فيه صلاح دنياهم وأخراهم، وأمرهم بالمعروف ونهيهم عن المنكر.
The religion (al-din): The religion of Islam. Sincere counsel (al-nasihah): A word that expresses the desire for good toward the one being counseled. Sincere counsel to Allah the Most High: Through sound belief in Him and sincerity in worshipping Him. Sincere counsel to the Book of Allah the Most High: Through affirming its truth, committing to its recitation, acting upon its rulings, and not distorting it. Sincere counsel to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Through affirming his message, obeying his commands, and adhering to his sunnah and his law. Sincere counsel to the leaders of the Muslims: By assisting them upon the truth, obeying them in what is not sinful, and pointing out any shortcomings within their jurisdiction according to the proper guidelines of the Shari'ah. Sincere counsel to the common Muslims: By guiding them to what benefits their worldly and afterlife affairs, enjoining good upon them, and forbidding them from evil.

وجوب النصيحة على المسلمين، لأنّها عماد الدين وقوامه. الاعتناء بخلق النصيحة، وإشاعته في حياة المسلم؛ ليعيش صادق القلب لإخوانه المسلمين، وليقوم بحقيقة الاستخلاف في الأرض بالأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر. الحذر من أخلاق الغلّ، والحقد، والغشّ للمسلمين. الحديث يدلّ المسلم على ضرورة ترتيب الأولويات، وإعطاء كل ذي حقّ حقّه من غير أن يطغى جانب على آخر. أن من أساليب التعليم الناجحة طريقة التفصيل بعد الإجمال، واعتماد طريقة التقسيم لتقريب العلم. هذا الحديث أصل عظيم في الإسلام جمع كل خير، ولذا قال بعض العلماء: عليه مدار الإسلام.
The obligation of sincere counsel upon Muslims, for it is the foundation and pillar of the religion. Attention to the virtue of sincere counsel and its spread in the life of a Muslim, so that he lives with a truthful heart toward his fellow Muslims and fulfills the reality of stewardship on earth through enjoining good and forbidding evil. Beware of the vices of rancor, spite, and deceit toward Muslims. The hadith guides the Muslim to the necessity of prioritizing, giving each matter its due right without one aspect encroaching upon another. Among the successful methods of teaching is the approach of detailing after summarizing and adopting the method of categorization to make knowledge accessible. This hadith is a tremendous foundational principle in Islam that encompasses all good. For this reason, some scholars said: The entire religion revolves around it.
