عَنْ أَنَس رضي اللّه عنه عن النبيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «لا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِه» متفقٌ عليه.
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: 'None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.' Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
لا يؤمن: أي الإيمان الكامل. لأخيه: أي لكل مسلم. ما يحب لنفسه: أي مِثلَ الذي يحب لنفسه من الخير.
None of you truly believes (la yu'minu): Meaning complete faith. For his brother (li-akhihi): For every Muslim. What he loves for himself: The same good that he loves for himself.

في الحديث حثّ على تقوية الروابط بين المؤمنين وعلى التواضع بينهم ومحبة الخير لهم. أن الإيمان يزيد وينقص؛ يزيد بالطاعة وفعل الخيرات، وينقص بالمعصية. أنّ من لم يتّصف بهذه الصفة لا يكون كافرًا. من الإيمان أيضًا أن يُبغِض لأخيه ما يُبغِض لنفسه من الشر. أن شرط الإيمان الكامل أن يرغب المسلم في أن يحصل للمسلمين ما يرغبه ويهواه لنفسه من الخيرات والطاعات. أن المسلمين لو تمثّلوا هذا الحديث الشريف وطبّقوه في حياتهم العامّة والخاصّة لتبدَّلت أحوالهم إلى قوة وعزّة.
The hadith encourages strengthening the bonds among believers, fostering humility between them, and loving good for them. Faith increases and decreases — it increases through obedience and good deeds, and decreases through disobedience. One who does not possess this quality is not thereby rendered a disbeliever. It is also part of faith to hate for one's brother what one hates for oneself of evil. A condition of complete faith is that a Muslim desires for other Muslims the same good, blessings, and acts of obedience that he desires for himself. If Muslims were to embody this noble hadith and apply it in their public and private lives, their condition would transform into one of strength and honor.
