Riyad Al Salihin

On the authority of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is no hijrah after the Conquest [of Makkah], but only jihad and intention remain. And if you are called to march forth, then march forth." Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

"After the Conquest": meaning after the conquest of Makkah, which took place in the eighth year after the hijrah. "Jihad": it is the exertion of effort in fighting, and it is also used for striving against the self, Satan, and the corrupt. "And intention": sincerity of action for Allah the Most High; intention is to deeds what the soul is to the body. "If you are called to march forth": meaning if you are called upon for help and asked to go out for jihad.

If a land becomes a land of Islam, emigration from it to another land is not obligatory. Whoever is in a land of disbelief and is unable to practice his religion openly is obligated to emigrate to a Muslim land or to a land where he can practice his religion openly, except for those who are unable to do so.
