Riyad Al Salihin

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever has wronged his brother regarding his honor or anything else, let him seek his pardon today, before there will be neither dinar nor dirham. If he has good deeds, they will be taken from him in proportion to the wrong he committed. And if he has no good deeds, the sins of the wronged person will be taken and placed upon him." Narrated by al-Bukhari.

A wrong (mazlamah): a right in which he wronged another, whether material or moral. His honor ('irduhu): a person's honor is the aspect of him that is subject to praise or blame. Let him seek his pardon (fal-yatahallalhu minhu): meaning let him clear his conscience from it, either by fulfilling the right or by obtaining the pardon of its owner.

The importance of staying far from injustice and aggression. The encouragement to hasten in clearing one's conscience of any outstanding rights while still in this world, where a person is able to fulfill them or seek forgiveness from their owner. If one delays until the Day of Resurrection, the matter becomes grave — neither money nor currency will avail him; rather, rights will be settled from his good deeds or added to his sins. Good deeds are corrupted and their fruits are lost by wronging people and causing them harm.
