عن النُّعْمَانِ بنِ بشِيرٍ رضي اللّه عنهما قال: قال رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «مثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وتَعاطُفِهِمْ، مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَداعَى لهُ سائِرُ الْجسدِ بالسهَرِ والْحُمَّى» متفقٌ عليه.
Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is that of a single body: when one limb suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever." Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

توادّهم: التوادد التواصل الجالب للمحبة كالتزاور والتهادي والسلام. تعاطفهم: التعاطف إعانة بعضهم بعضًا.
Their mutual love (tawaddihim): tawadud refers to the mutual exchange of what engenders affection, such as visiting one another, exchanging gifts, and greeting each other with peace. Their compassion (ta'atufihim): ta'atuf means helping one another.

الحضّ على أن يرحم المؤمنون بعضهم بعضًا، وأن يمُدّوا يد العون والمساعدة بعضهم لبعض عند الشدائد والنوازل. عندما تسود في المجتمع الرحمة والمحبة والتعاون، فإن هذا يوجد وحدة الشعور في الأفراح والأحزان.
An exhortation for the believers to show mercy to one another, and to extend a helping hand to one another in times of hardship and calamity. When mercy, love, and cooperation prevail in a society, they create a unity of feeling in both joys and sorrows.
