عن أَبي هُريْرَةَ رضي اللّه عنه قال: قبَّل النَّبِيُّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم الْحسنَ بن عَليٍّ رضي اللّه عنهما، وَعِنْدَهُ الأَقْرعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ، فقال الأَقْرَعُ: إِنَّ لِي عَشرةً مِنَ الْولَدِ ما قَبَّلتُ مِنْهُمْ أَحدًا فنَظَر إِلَيْهِ رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم فقال: «مَن لا يَرْحمْ لا يُرْحَمْ» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) kissed al-Hasan ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with both of them) while al-Aqra' ibn Habis was present. Al-Aqra' said: "I have ten children and I have never kissed any of them." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) looked at him and said: "Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy." Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

المراد من قوله صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم: "من لا يَرحم لا يُرحم" أي من لا يرحم غيره بأي نوع من أنواع الإحسان لا يحصل على من يرحمه. من الرحمة والشفقة تقبيل الوالد لأولاده.
The meaning of his saying (peace be upon him), 'Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy,' is that whoever does not show mercy to others through any form of kindness will not find anyone to show him mercy. Among the expressions of mercy and compassion is a parent kissing his children.
