عن أَبِي هُريْرَةَ رَضيَ اللّهُ عنهُ أَنَّ رجلًا قَالَ للنَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: أوْصِني، قَالَ: «لا تَغْضَبْ» فَردَّدَ مِرارًا، قَالَ: «لا تَغْضَبْ» رواه البخاريّ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Advise me." He said: "Do not become angry." The man repeated his request several times, and each time the Prophet said: "Do not become angry." Narrated by al-Bukhari.

أوصني: أي قل لي وصية تجمع خَيرَي الدُّنيا والآخرة.
Awsini: meaning 'give me a piece of advice that encompasses the good of this world and the Hereafter.'

أنَّ من ردَّ غضبَه فقد أخزى شيطانه، وسلمَت مروءتُه ودينُه. عِظَمُ مفسدة الغضب وما ينشأ عنه. الغضب المذموم ما كان في أمور الدنيا، والغضب المحمود ما كان للّه ولنصرة دينه، وكان عليه الصلاة والسلام يغضب إذا انتُهكت حرمات اللّه. إسْداءُ النبيِّ النصيحَة الجامعَة لكل خير، وهي النهي عن الغضب، لِما يترتب على حالة الغضب من شرور ومفاسد.
Whoever restrains his anger has humiliated his devil and preserved his dignity and religion. The great harm of anger and the evils that arise from it. Blameworthy anger is that which pertains to worldly matters, while praiseworthy anger is that which is for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would become angry when the sanctities of Allah were violated. The Prophet (peace be upon him) offered comprehensive advice that encompasses all good: the prohibition of anger, due to the evils and harms that result from the state of anger.
