Riyad Al Salihin

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Part of the perfection of a person's Islam is his leaving that which does not concern him." A good (hasan) hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi and others.

Min husni islami al-mar': meaning among the signs of the completeness and uprightness of one's Islam. Tarkuhu ma la ya'nih: what he has no need for and has no direct or indirect connection to.

A person should occupy himself with what benefits his worldly and religious affairs. It is a sign of a person's perfection that he turns away from what he does not need and what does not benefit him, let alone what harms and hurts him. A person's caution against meddling in the affairs of others without a legitimate justification (such as sincere advice and forbidding wrong) is a sign of complete uprightness.
