عن الزُّبَيْرِ بنِ عديٍّ قال: أَتَيْنَا أَنسَ بنَ مالكٍ رضي اللّهُ عنه فشَكَوْنَا إليهِ ما نَلْقَى مِنَ الْحَجَّاجِ. فقال: «اصْبِروا فإِنَّه لا يأْتي زمانٌ إلَّا والَّذي بَعْدَه شَرٌّ منه حتَّى تَلْقَوْا رَبَّكُمْ» سَمِعتُهُ مِنْ نبيِّكُمْ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم. رواه البخاريّ.
On the authority of al-Zubayr ibn 'Adi who said: We came to Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and complained to him about what we were suffering at the hands of al-Hajjaj. He said: "Be patient, for no time will come upon you except that what follows it will be worse, until you meet your Lord." I heard this from your Prophet (peace be upon him). Narrated by al-Bukhari.

تلقوا ربكم: يدرككم الموت، وقد يكون المراد قيام الساعة.
"Until you meet your Lord": Until death overtakes you; it may also mean the establishment of the Hour.

استحباب صبر المسلم على المحن والمبادرة بالأعمال الصالحة إن لحقته المتاعب والمشاقّ، ولا يرتقب الخلوّ عن ذلك. الإخبار بأنَّ ما يأتي على الناس مِنَ الزمان القادم أشقّ عليهم مِمَّا مضى، وهذا في غالب الحال وليس دائمًا ولا مع كل شخص. الإشارة إلى انتشار الفساد آخر الزمان.
The recommendation for a Muslim to be patient during trials and to hasten toward righteous deeds even when hardships and difficulties befall him, without waiting for them to cease. The prophecy that the times to come will be more burdensome for people than what has passed — and this is generally the case, not always and not for every individual. An indication of the spread of corruption toward the end of times.
