عن أبي فِراس رَبِيعةَ بنِ كَعْبٍ الأسْلَمِيِّ خادِم رسولِ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، ومِنْ أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ رضي اللّه عنه قال: كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ مع رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، فآتِيهِ بِوَضوئِهِ، وحاجتِهِ فقال: «سلْني» فقُلْت: أسْألُكَ مُرافَقَتَكَ في الجنَّةِ. فقالَ: «أوَ غَيْرَ ذلِك؟» قُلْت: هو ذَاك. قال: «فأَعِنِّي على نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرةِ السجُودِ» رواه مسلم.
On the authority of Abu Firas, Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b al-Aslami — a servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and one of the People of the Suffah — (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I used to spend the night with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), bringing him his water for ablution and whatever he needed. He said to me: "Ask of me." I said: "I ask for your companionship in Paradise." He said: "Is there anything else?" I said: "That is all I ask." He said: "Then help me in your matter by performing many prostrations." Narrated by Muslim.

الصُّفَّة: مكان في مؤخرة المسجد النبوي الشريف. أهْلُ الصُّفَّة: هم فقراء المسلمين من المهاجرين وغيرهم. أَبِيتُ مع رسولِ اللّه: على باب بيته لخدمته. بوَضوئه: الماء الذي يتوضأ به. سَلْني: اطلُبْ منِّي حاجتَك.
"The Suffah": A place at the back of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. "The People of the Suffah": Poor Muslims from among the Emigrants and others. "I used to spend the night with the Messenger of Allah": At the door of his house to serve him. "His water for ablution" (wudu'ih): The water with which he would perform ablution. "Ask of me": Request whatever you need from me.

الحثّ على كثرة السجود والترغيب فيه، والمراد به السجود في الصلاة. إن ترتيب الأجور بحسب الأعمال، فمن زاد، زاد اللّه في حسناته، ومن أنقص نال من الأجر بقدر ما عمل، ومن يستكثر فاللّه عزّ وجلّ يعطيه أكثر وأكثر. كلما أكثرت من المحافظة على الصلوات الفرائض، وأكثرت من النوافل في الليل والنهار، كانت فرصتك في مرافقة النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم أكبر. كلما كانت السجدة ذات خشوع وخضوع وانكسار بين يدي اللّه، كانت أعظم أجرًا، وأكثر قربًا من اللّه عزّ وجلّ، ومن تحقيق مرافقة النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم في الجنّة.
Encouragement to perform many prostrations and motivation to do so; what is meant is prostration in prayer. Rewards are proportionate to deeds — whoever does more, Allah increases his rewards; whoever does less, he receives a reward commensurate with his effort. And whoever seeks to do more, Allah the Almighty gives him ever more. The more one preserves the obligatory prayers and increases voluntary prayers during the day and night, the greater one's chance of being in the companionship of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The more a prostration is performed with humility, submission, and brokenness before Allah, the greater its reward, the closer it brings one to Allah the Almighty, and the closer it brings one to attaining the companionship of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Paradise.
