عن أُسامَةَ رضي اللّهُ عنه، عن النبيّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «قُمْتُ عَلَى بابِ الْجنَّةِ، فَإِذَا عامَّةُ مَنْ دخَلَهَا الْمَسَاكِينُ، وأَصْحابُ الجَدِّ محْبُوسُونَ، غيْرَ أَنَّ أَصْحابَ النَّارِ قَدْ أُمِرَ بِهِمْ إِلَى النَّارِ. وقُمْتُ عَلَى بابِ النَّارِ فَإِذَا عامَّةُ مَنْ دَخَلَهَا النِّسَاءُ» متفقٌ عليه.
Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said, "I stood at the gate of Paradise, and most of those who entered were the poor; the wealthy were held back, yet the people of the Fire had already been ordered into the Fire. I stood at the gate of the Fire, and most of those who entered were women." [Agreed upon]
الشرح · explanation
عامة من دخلها: أي أغلب وأكثر. الجَدّ: الحظُّ والغِنى. محْبُوسُونَ: أي لَمْ يُؤذَنْ لهُمْ بَعْدُ فِي دُخُول الجَنَّةِ.
"Most of those who entered": the majority. "Al-jadd": fortune and wealth. "Detained": not yet permitted to enter Paradise.

إخبار النبيّ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم عن المُغيَّبات كأحوال أهل الجنّة وأهل النار. أغلب أهل الجنّة يوم القيامة هم المساكين أصحاب الأعمال الصالحة. المقصود بالنساء هنا: اللواتي يعصين اللّه تعالى، ولا يؤدين حقوقه سبحانه، ويُنكرن الجميل والإحسان. المراد بالمساكين من أهل الجنّة الذين كانوا مستضعفين مع الصلاح والتقوى والتزام شرع اللّه تعالى. المراد بأهل النار وأصحاب الجَدّ الأغنياء وأهل البطر الذين طغَوا وعصَوا أوامر اللّه تعالى. العبرة بالأعمال الصالحة لا بالجاه والمال.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) informs about unseen matters such as the states of the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire. Most of the people of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection are the poor who were people of righteous deeds. "The women" here refers to those who disobey Allah, fail to fulfill His rights, and deny kindness and favor. The "poor" of the people of Paradise refers to those who were counted weak yet maintained righteousness, taqwa, and adherence to Allah's Law. "The people of the Fire" and "those of fortune" refers to the wealthy and the insolent who transgressed and disobeyed Allah's commands. What counts is righteous deeds, not status or wealth.
