عن سهلِ بن سعدٍ رضي اللّهُ عنه قال: قال رسول اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «أَنَا وكافلُ الْيتِيمِ في الجنَّةِ هكَذَا» وأَشَار بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى، وفَرَّجَ بَيْنَهُمَا. رواه البخاري.
Sahl ibn Saʿd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like this," and he pointed with his forefinger and middle finger, spreading them apart. [Bukhari]
الشرح · explanation
اليتيم: الصغير الذي مات أبوه. السبّابة: الأُصبَع التي تلي الإبهام، قيل: سميت بذلك لأنّها تُستخدَم في السبِّ. فرَّج بينهما: فرَّق بين الأصبعين إشارةً إلى أنّ بين درجة النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم في الجنّة وكافل اليتيم قدرَ تفاوتِ ما بينَ السبّابةِ والوسطى، وجاء في رواية: "كهاتين إذا اتقى": أي إذا اتقى اللّه فيما يتعلق بحقّ اليتيم.
"The orphan": the young one whose father has died. "Al-sabbābah": the finger next to the thumb, so called because it is used in reviling. "Spreading them apart": he separated the two fingers, indicating that between the rank of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the sponsor of the orphan is the distance between the forefinger and middle finger. Another narration says: "like these two, if he fears Allah" — meaning if he fears Allah with regard to the orphan's rights.

الترغيب في القيام بأمور اليتيم والمحافظة على أمواله. أنّ من يكفل اليتيم يكون رفيقَ النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم في الجنّة، ولا منزلةَ في الآخرةِ أفضل من ذلك.
Encouragement to take care of the orphan's affairs and to preserve his wealth. Whoever sponsors an orphan will be the companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Paradise, and there is no rank in the Hereafter more excellent than that.
