عن أبي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه، قال: قال رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «أَكْمَلُ المُؤْمِنين إِيمَانًا أَحْسنُهُمْ خُلُقًا، وَخِيارُكُمْ خِيارُكُم لِنِسَائِهِم» رواه التِّرمذي وقال: حديثٌ حسنٌ صحيح.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "The most complete believers in faith are those with the best character, and the best of you are those who are best to their wives." [Tirmidhi, who said: a good and authentic hadith]

أحسنهم خُلُقًا: حُسنُ الخُلُق أي بَذلُ المعروف، وكفّ الأذى، وطلاقة الوجه.
"Best in character": good character means extending kindness, refraining from harm, and a cheerful face.
