عن عبدِ اللّهِ بنِ عمرو بن العاص رضي اللّهُ عنهما أَنّ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ، وَخَيْرُ مَتاعِهَا المَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ» رواه مسلم.
ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAṣ (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "The world is provision, and the best of its provision is the righteous woman." [Muslim]
الشرح · explanation
متاع: أي شيء يُتمتَّع به حينًا من الوقت. المرأة الصالحة: فسرها النبيّ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم في حديث آخر بقوله: "التي إذا نظر إليها سرَّته، وإذا أمرها أطاعته، وإذا غاب عنها حفظته في نفسها وماله".
"Matāʿ": something one enjoys for a time. "The righteous woman": the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained her in another hadith: "She who pleases him when he looks at her, obeys him when he commands her, and guards herself and his wealth in his absence."

Encouragement to choose the righteous woman, for she is a cause of a man's happiness in this life and a helper for him in obeying Allah the Exalted. The righteous wife is the finest of lawful enjoyments in this world.
