عن أبي هريرة رضي اللّهُ عنه قال: قال رسول اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِذَا دَعَا الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فلَمْ تَأْتِهِ فَبَاتَ غَضْبَانَ عَلَيْهَا لَعَنَتْهَا الملائكَةُ حَتَّى تُصْبِحَ» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "When a man calls his wife to his bed and she does not come to him, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning." [Agreed upon]

وفي رواية لهما: «إِذَا بَاتَتِ المَرْأَةُ هَاجِرَةً فِرَاشَ زَوْجِهَا لَعنتْهَا المَلائِكَةُ حَتَّى تُصْبِحَ». وفي روايةٍ قال رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «والَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا مِن رَجُلٍ يَدْعُو امْرَأَتَهُ إِلى فِرَاشِهِ فَتَأْبَى عَلَيْهِ إلَّا كَانَ الَّذي في السَّماءِ سَاخِطًا عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى يَرْضَى عَنْها».
In another of their narrations: "If a woman spends the night having forsaken her husband's bed, the angels curse her until morning." In another narration the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, no man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses him except that the One in the heaven is displeased with her until he is pleased with her."

الإرشاد إلى إعفاف الزوج لذلك حثّ المرأة على تلبيته. وجوب طاعة الزوجة لزوجها إذا دعاها إليه ولم يكن لها عُذر، وامتناعها عن ذلك كبيرة تستوجب طردها من رحمة اللّه. إعراض الزوجة عن زوجها قد يسبب إيقاع الزوج في الفاحشة أو المعصية. الامتناع عن الاستمتاع بما أحلّ اللّه في ظلّ الحياة الزوجية المشروعة من غير عذر يؤدي إلى النفور، ومن ثَم يقع الزوجان أو أحدهما في الفاحشة أو هدم الأسرة بسبب الإعراض، ولذلك كان الامتناع الوارد في الحديث موجبًا لسخط اللّه تعالى.
Guidance toward preserving the husband's chastity, therefore urging the woman to respond to him. Obligation of the wife's obedience to her husband when he calls her if she has no excuse; her refusal is a major sin that drives her from Allah's mercy. The wife's refusal of her husband may lead him into indecency or sin. Refusing to partake of what Allah has made lawful within the permissible marital life, without excuse, leads to aversion; the result is that one or both spouses fall into indecency or the destruction of the family — hence the refusal in the hadith invokes Allah's displeasure.
