عن سعد بن أبي وقَّاصٍ رضي اللّهُ عنه في حدِيثِهِ الطَّويلِ الذِي قَدَّمْناهُ في أَوَّل الْكِتَابِ في بَابِ النِّيَّةِ (حديث:٦) أَنَّ رسول الله صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال له: «وَإِنَّكَ لَنْ تُنْفِقَ نَفَقَةً تَبْتَغِي بِهَا وَجهَ اللّهِ إلَّا أُجِرْتَ بها حَتَّى ما تَجْعلُ في في امرأَتِكَ» متفقٌ عليه.
Saʿd ibn Abi Waqqaṣ (may Allah be pleased with him) — in his long hadith that we presented at the beginning of the book in the Chapter on Intention (hadith 6) — reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him, "You will never spend an expenditure seeking the Face of Allah but that you are rewarded for it, even what you place in the mouth of your wife." في في امرأتك: أي ما تضعه لزوجتك في فمها، سواء كان حقيقة أو كنايةً عن النفقة والصرف عليها.
"What you place in the mouth of your wife": what you put into her mouth, whether literally or as a metaphor for supporting her.

حصول الأجر والثواب بالنفقة على الزوجة وإن كان قيامًا بحقها عليه؛ لأن المباحات مع النيّة الصالحة تنتقل إلى درجة الطاعات.
Reward is earned by spending on the wife even though it is fulfilling a duty owed to her, because permissible acts with a sincere intention are elevated to the rank of acts of obedience.
