عن أبي هريرةَ رضي اللّهُ عنه أَنّ النبيَّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «مَا مِنْ يوْمٍ يُصْبِحُ الْعِبَادُ فِيهِ إِلَّا ملَكَانِ يَنْزلانِ، فَيقولُ أَحدُهُما: اللّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُنْفِقًا خَلفًا، ويَقولُ الآخَرُ: اللهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُمْسِكًا تَلَفًا» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "There is not a day that dawns upon the servants except that two angels descend; one says, 'O Allah, grant the one who spends a compensation,' and the other says, 'O Allah, grant the one who withholds destruction.'" من أعظم المحفِّزات على البذل حصول الدعاء من الملائكة للكريم بمزيد من العوض، وأن يخلف اللّه عليه خيرًا ممّا أنفق. ينبغي على من ابتلاه اللّه بالبخل أن يحذر من دعاء الملائكة عليه بتلف ماله الذي بخل به ومنع إنفاقه فيما أوجب اللّه عليه. الحضُّ على الإِنفاق في الواجبات؛ كالنفقة على الأهل، ويدخل فيه صدقةُ التطوُّع والفرض.
Among the greatest incentives for giving is the supplication of the angels for the generous one for more compensation, and that Allah replace what he has spent with better. One afflicted by miserliness should beware of the angels' supplication against him for the destruction of the wealth he hoarded and withheld from obligatory spending. Encouragement to spend in the obligatory matters, such as maintenance of family, including both voluntary and obligatory charity.
