Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAli (may Allah be pleased with them) took a date from the dates of charity and put it in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Kikh, kikh! Throw it out. Do you not know that we do not eat charity?" [Agreed upon]
In another narration: "Charity is not lawful for us." "Dates of charity": those collected from zakat of dates. "Kikh, kikh": a word of deterrent said to a child about repugnant things; Al-Ḥasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was a child. "It is not lawful for us": for the family of the Prophet (peace be upon him) — Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muṭṭalib.

Obligation of directing family members — and those in their place — and restraining them from the forbidden, while explaining the wisdom therein if they are capable of understanding. Prohibition of charity and zakat for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the members of his household, because they are not the noblest of wealth, as mentioned in another hadith. The ruler must collect zakat and distribute it to its rightful recipients, overseeing this with precision and trust.
