عن أَنسٍ رضي اللّهُ عنه أَنّ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُبْسَطَ له في رِزْقِهِ، ويُنْسَأَ لَهُ في أَثَرِهِ، فَلْيَصِلْ رحِمَهُ» متفقٌ عليه.
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever loves that his provision be expanded for him and that his term be extended, let him maintain ties with his kin." [Agreed upon.]
الشرح · explanation
أن يُبْسَطَ له في رِزقِهِ: المقصود الزيادة في مقدار رزقه المكتوب، أو زيادة البركة فيه. أن يُنْسأَ لَهُ في أَثرِهِ: المقصود زيادة العمر إمّا الزيادة الحقيقيّة أَيْ يؤخّر له في أَجَلِهِ وعُمُرِهِ، أو حصول البركة في هذا العمر.
"That his provision be expanded": what is meant is an increase in the measure of his decreed provision, or an increase in its blessing. "That his term be extended": what is meant is an increase in lifespan—either a literal increase, in that his appointed time and life are deferred, or the attainment of blessing within that lifespan.

فضلُ صلة الرحم في حصول البركة في العمر وحفظ الصحّة وسعة الرزق. دعاء الولد الصالح والذكر الحسن بعد الموت زيادة في العمر. رغبة الإنسان في طول العمر على الطاعة ليست ممّا يُذمُّ به.
The merit of maintaining ties of kinship in obtaining blessing in one's lifespan, the preservation of health, and abundance of provision. The supplication of a righteous child and good remembrance after death are an extension of one's life. A person's desire for a long life of obedience is not something to be censured.
