عن أَبي ذرٍّ رضي اللهُ عنه قال: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِنَّكُمْ سَتَفْتَحُونَ أَرْضًا يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا القِيرَاطُ». وفي روايةٍ: «سَتَفْتَحُونَ مـِصْرَ، وهِي أَرْضٌ يُسَمَّى فِيها القِيرَاطُ، فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِأَهْلِها خَيْرًا، فَإِنَّ لَهُمْ ذِمَّةً ورَحِمًا». وفي روايةٍ: «فإِذا افْتَتَحْتُمُوهَا، فَأَحْسِنُوا إِلى أَهْلِهَا، فَإِنَّ لَهُمْ ذِمَّةً ورَحِمًا» أَو قالَ: «ذِمَّةً وصِهرًا» رواه مسلم.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will conquer a land in which the qirat is mentioned." In another narration: "You will conquer Egypt, a land in which the qirat is mentioned. So treat its people well, for they have a covenant of protection and a tie of kinship." In another narration: "When you conquer it, treat its people kindly, for they have a covenant of protection and a tie of kinship" — or he said: "a covenant of protection and a bond of marriage." الشرح · explanation
يُسمّى: أي يُذكرُ كثيرًا. القيراط: معيار فِي الْوَزْن وَفِي قياس الأرض، اخْتلفت مقاديره باخْتلَاف الْأَزْمِنَة. ذمّةً: حقًّا وحُرمةً. الرَّحِمُ: التي لهُمْ كَوْنُ هَاجَرَ أُمِّ إِسْماعِيلَ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم مِنْهمْ. صهرًا: الصِّهر كون مارِيّةَ أُمِّ إِبراهِيمَ بنِ رسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم منهم.
"Mentioned": that is, frequently spoken of. The qirat: a measure used in weighing and in measuring land, whose values have varied across different eras. Covenant of protection: a right and an inviolability. The tie of kinship: their kinship lies in the fact that Hajar, the mother of Isma'il (peace and blessings be upon him), was from among them. Bond of marriage: this refers to the fact that Mariyah, the mother of Ibrahim the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), was from among them.

It is part of the mercy of Islam to enjoin good treatment of the people of conquered lands. A manifest miracle of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), for he foretold that the Ummah would possess strength and power after him, and it came to pass exactly as he had said.
