عن سلْمَانَ بنِ عامِرٍ رضيَ اللهُ عنه، عن النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قالَ: «إِذا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى تَمْرٍ، فَإِنَّهُ بركَةٌ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ تَمْرًا فَالمَاءُ، فَإِنَّهُ طَهُورٌ» وقال: «الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى المِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ، وعَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ ثِنْتَانِ: صَدَقَةٌ وصِلَةٌ» رواه الترمذيّ وقال: حديث حسن.
Salman ibn 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you breaks his fast, let him break it with dates, for they are a blessing; and if he does not find dates, then with water, for it is purifying." And he said: "Charity given to the poor is a charity, but charity given to a relative is two things: a charity and the maintenance of kinship." البركة: النماء والزيادة وكثرة الخير. طَهور: طاهر مُطهِّر لغيره.
Blessing: growth, increase, and abundance of good. Purifying (tahur): pure in itself and a means of purifying others.

استحباب إفطار الصائم على التمر أو على الماء. على الإنسان أن يختار من وجوه البِرِّ ما يكون أكثر ثوابًا، والترتيب المذكور للاستحباب. الصدقة على الأرحام أَجرُها مضاعف، لأنّ فيها أَجْر الصدقة وأَجْر الصلة.
It is recommended for the one fasting to break his fast with dates or with water. A person should choose, among the avenues of righteousness, that which carries the greater reward; the order mentioned is for preference. Charity given to relatives is doubly rewarded, for it contains the reward of charity and the reward of maintaining the ties of kinship.
