عن عبدِ اللهِ بنِ عَمْرٍو بنِ العاصِ رضيَ اللهُ عنهما أَنَّ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «مِنَ الْكَبائِرِ شَتْمُ الرَّجُلِ وَالِدَيْهِ!» قالوا: يا رسولَ اللهِ وهَلْ يَشْتِمُ الرَّجُلُ وَالِدَيْهِ؟ قال: «نَعمْ، يَسُبُّ أَبا الرَّجُلِ، فيسُبُّ أَباهُ، ويسُبُّ أُمَّهُ، فَيسُبُّ أُمَّهُ» متفقٌ عليه. وفي روايـةٍ: «إِنَّ مِنْ أَكْبرِ الكبائِرِ أَنْ يَلْعَنَ الرَّجُلُ والِدَيْهِ» قيل: يا رسـولَ اللهِ كيْفَ يلْعنُ الرَّجُلُ والِديْهِ؟ قالَ: «يَسُبُّ الرَّجُلُ أَبَا الرَّجُلِ، فَيَسُبُّ أَبَاهُ، وَيَسُبُّ أُمَّهُ، فيَسُبُّ أُمَّهُ».
'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the major sins is a man's reviling of his own parents!" They said: O Messenger of Allah, does a man revile his own parents? He said: "Yes; he insults another man's father, so that man insults his father, and he insults another man's mother, so that man insults his mother." [Agreed upon] In another narration: "Indeed, among the greatest of the major sins is that a man should curse his own parents." It was said: O Messenger of Allah, how does a man curse his own parents? He said: "A man insults another man's father, so that man insults his father, and he insults his mother, so that man insults his mother."

حرمة سبّ الآباء والأمهات. من عقوق الوالدين تعريضهما للسبّ والإهانة. يأبى الطبع المستقيم غالبًا أن يسبَّ الرجل والديه، ولكنّه قد يتسبب في ذلك بسبِّ والِدَي غيره. ترك السباب والشتائم خشية أن يعود السبّ على أبَوَيِ الشاتم.
The prohibition of reviling fathers and mothers. It is a form of disobedience to parents to expose them to reviling and humiliation. An upright nature usually refuses to allow a man to revile his own parents, yet he may bring this about by reviling the parents of others. Abandoning insults and abuse, out of fear that the reviling may return upon the parents of the one who reviles.
