عن أَنسٍ رضيَ اللهُ عنه قال: قالَ أبو بكرٍ لِعُمَرَ رضيَ اللهُ عنهما بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ رسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلى أُمِّ أَيْمَنَ رضيَ اللهُ عنها نَزُورُهَا كَمَا كانَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَزُورُهَا، فلَمَّا انْتَهَيا إِلَيْهَا بَكَتْ، فقالَا لَهَا: مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ أَمَا تَعْلَمِينَ أَنَّ ما عِنْدَ اللهِ خيرٌ لرسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ؟ فقالت: إِنِّي لا أَبْكِي أَنِّي لا أعْلَمُ أَنَّ ما عِندَ اللهِ تعالَى خَيرٌ لرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ، ولَـكنْ أبْكي أَنَّ الوَحْيَ قَدِ انْقَطَعَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، فَهَيَّجَتْهُمَا على البُكَاءِ، فَجعلا يَبْكِيانِ معهَا. رواه مسلم.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: After the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Bakr said to 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them): "Come with us to Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) to visit her, just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit her." When they reached her, she wept. They said to her: "What makes you weep? Do you not know that what is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She said: "I am not weeping because I am unaware that what is with Allah, Exalted is He, is better for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); rather, I weep because the revelation from heaven has now ceased." So she moved them to weeping, and they began to weep along with her. Reported by Muslim.

أم أيمن: مولاةٌ لرسولِ اللهِ صلّى اللهُ عليه وسلّمَ، كانت تحضنه حتى كبر، وهي من الحبشة، أعتقها حين تزوج خديجة رضي الله عنها، أنْكَحها زيدَ بن حارثة، فهي أم أسامة بن زيد رضي الله عنهما، تُوفيت بعد رسولِ اللهِ صلّى اللهُ عليه وسلّمَ بفترة قريبة. فهيّجتهما على البكاء: أي أثَّرت فيهما وأثارتهما فحملتهما على البكاء.
Umm Ayman: a freed bondwoman of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who nursed and cared for him until he grew up. She was from Abyssinia. He freed her when he married Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), and gave her in marriage to Zayd ibn Harithah, so she is the mother of Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with both of them). She died a short while after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). "So she moved them to weeping": that is, she affected them and stirred them, causing them to weep.
