Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, the one among the people of the Fire who will be lightest in punishment on the Day of Resurrection is a man under the arches of whose feet two embers will be placed, from which his brain will boil. He will not think that anyone is more severely punished than he, yet he will be the lightest of them in punishment." Agreed upon.

An explanation of the severity of the punishment of the Fire; for this hadith mentions the one whose punishment was lightened. A warning against falling into sins, which are a path to the Fire, the greatest of them being associating partners with Allah, for the one who commits it does not come out of this Fire. Allah's mercy toward people, by His severe warning against the punishment of the Fire so that they do not fall into what necessitates their entering it.
