عن أبي بَرْزَة - بِراءٍ ثم زايٍ -نَضْلَةَ بنِ عُبَيْدٍ الأَسْلَمِيِّ، رضيَ اللهُ عنه، قال: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «لا تَزُولُ قَدمَا عبْدٍ حَتَّى يُسْأَلَ عَنْ عُمْرِهِ فِيمَ أَفْنَاهُ، وَعَنْ عِلْمِهِ فِيمَ فَعَلَ فِيهِ، وعَنْ مالِهِ مِنْ أَيْنَ اكْتَسبَهُ وَفِيمَ أَنْفَقَهُ، وَعَن جِسْمِهِ فِيمَ أَبْلاهُ» رواه الترمذي وقال: حديث حسن صحيح.
Abu Barzah Nadlah ibn 'Ubayd al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his life and how he spent it, about his knowledge and what he did with it, about his wealth, how he acquired it and on what he spent it, and about his body and how he wore it out." فِيمَ: أي (في أي شيء؟) وأصلها (في ما؟).
"Fima": that is, "in what?" or "on what?"; its origin is "fi ma" (in what).

الحث على اغتنام الحياة فيما يرضي الله تعالى. اكتساب المال من طرق مشروعة، ليكون حلالًا، وصرفه في وجوه الخير وما أمر الله به. حفظ الجسم مما حرم الله، وتسخيره لطاعة الله سبحانه. ضرورة أن يتعلم الإنسان العلم النافع ويعمل به خالصًا لله تعالى موافقًا لشرعه، فينتفع هو به وينفع غيره. مسؤولية الإنسان الشاملة يوم القيامة، فلن ينصرف عن الموقف إلّا بعد الحساب. الحياة مدرسة ومسؤولية واختبار، فمن حاسب نفسه في الدنيا، خفّ حسابه يوم القيامة.
Encouragement to make the most of one's life in what pleases Allah, Exalted is He. Acquiring wealth through lawful means so that it is permissible, and spending it on avenues of good and on what Allah has commanded. Guarding the body from what Allah has forbidden and employing it in the obedience of Allah, Glorified is He. The necessity that a person learn beneficial knowledge and act upon it sincerely for Allah, Exalted is He, in accordance with His law, so that he benefits from it and benefits others. The comprehensive accountability of a person on the Day of Resurrection, for he will not depart from the Standing until after the reckoning. Life is a school, a responsibility, and a test, so whoever calls himself to account in this world, his reckoning on the Day of Resurrection will be lightened.
