عن أبي سعيدٍ الخُدْرِيِّ، رضيَ اللهُ عنه، قال: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «كَيْفَ أَنْعَمُ وَصَاحِبُ الْقَرْنِ قَدِ الْتَقَمَ الْقَرْنَ، وَاسْتَمَعَ الإِذْنَ مَتَى يُؤْمَرُ بِالنَّفْخِ فَيَنْفُخ» فَكَأَنَّ ذلِكَ ثَقُلَ عَلى أَصْحَابِ رسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، فقالَ لَهُمْ: «قُولُوا: حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوكِيلُ» رواه الترمذي وقال حديثٌ حسنٌ.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "How can I be at ease when the one entrusted with the Horn has placed the Horn in his mouth and is listening intently for permission, awaiting the moment he is commanded to blow, so that he may blow it?" This seemed to weigh heavily upon the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said to them, "Say: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs." الْقَرْنُ: هُوَ الصُّورُ الَّذِي قال الله تعالى: {وَنُفِخَ في الصُّورِ} وكَذَا فَسَّرَهُ رسول الله صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم الصور قرن يُنفخ فيه. كيف أنعمُ: من النَّعمة وهي المسرَّة والفرح، والمعنى كيف تطيب حياتي. صاحب القرن: المَلَك الموكل بالنفخ فيه وهو إسرافيل عليه السلام. التقم: وضع فمه عليه، وهو يعني قرب قيام الساعة. ثقُل: عَظُم. حسبنا: كافينا.
"Al-Qarn" (the Horn): it is the Trumpet (al-Sur) of which Allah, Exalted is He, said, "And the Trumpet will be blown." Thus did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) explain it: the Trumpet is a horn that is blown into. "How can I be at ease": from "ni'mah," meaning delight and joy; the meaning is: how can my life be pleasant. "The one entrusted with the Horn": the angel charged with blowing into it, namely Israfil (peace be upon him). "Has placed it in his mouth" (iltaqama): he has put his mouth upon it, which signifies the nearness of the coming of the Hour. "Weighed heavily" (thaqula): became grave and burdensome. "Sufficient for us" (hasbuna): enough for us.

Fear of the coming of the Day of Resurrection. Encouragement to seek the aid of Allah, Exalted is He, to turn to Him for refuge, and to hasten to righteous deeds. The compassion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for his nation and his fear that the Hour would come upon them, even though he knew that it would come only upon the worst of creation.
