عن عائشةَ رضيَ اللهُ عنها، قالت: سمعتُ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يقول: «يُحْشَرُ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حُفَاةً عُراةً غُرْلًا» قُلْتُ: يا رسولَ اللهِ، الرِّجَالُ والنِّسَاءُ جَمِيعًا يَنْظُرُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلى بَعْضٍ؟! قال: «يا عَائِشَةُ، الأَمْرُ أَشَدُّ مِنْ أَنْ يُهِمَّهُمْ ذلِكَ» متفقٌ عليه. وفي روايةٍ: «الأَمْرُ أَهَمُّ مِن أَن يَنْظُرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلى بَعْضٍ».
'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised." I said: O Messenger of Allah, will the men and women all be looking at one another? He said, "O 'A'ishah, the matter is too grave for that to concern them." [Agreed upon] In another narration: "The matter is too serious for them to look at one another."
الشرح · explanation
حفاة: جمع حافٍ وهو من ليس في رجله حذاء. عراة: جمع عارٍ، وهو من ليس على بدنه ثوب. غُرلًا: أيْ غَيْرَ مَخْتُونِينَ، لحشره كما خُلق. الأمر أهم: أي بهوله وشدّته.
"Barefoot" (hufah): the plural of "hafin," one who has no footwear on his feet. "Naked" ('urah): the plural of "'arin," one who has no garment on his body. "Uncircumcised" (ghurlan): that is, not circumcised, since he is gathered just as he was created. "The matter is too serious": that is, on account of its terror and severity.
