Abu Hurayrah or Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with them)—the narrator was uncertain, but uncertainty about the identity of the Companion does no harm, for they are all upright—reported: On the day of the Battle of Tabuk, the people were stricken with hunger, so they said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you would permit us, we would slaughter our water-carrying camels, eat, and grease ourselves with the fat." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do so." Then 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you do that, the mounts will become few. Rather, call them to bring what remains of their provisions, then supplicate Allah to bless it for them; perhaps Allah will place blessing in it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." So he called for a leather mat and spread it out, then asked for what remained of their provisions. A man would come with a handful of corn, another with a handful of dates, and another with a piece of bread, until a small amount had gathered on the mat. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for blessing and said: "Take into your vessels." So they filled their vessels until there was not a single vessel in the camp left unfilled, and they ate until they were satisfied, and some was left over. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah with these two, free of doubt, but that he is not barred from Paradise." Reported by Muslim.

The good manners of the Companions toward the Messenger, in that they would seek his permission for what they wished and wanted to do. The leader's regard for the interests of his subjects and prioritizing the most important matters. Confirmation of the miracle for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him); the multiplying of food occurred for him more than once. It is permissible to advise leaders and imams with what serves their interest, even from one of lesser rank. Whoever pronounces the two testimonies and acts according to their requirement is not barred from Paradise. A gift and offering is accepted from its giver even if it is small.
