عن أبي هريرةَ رضيَ اللهُ عنه قالَ: كُنَّا قُعودًا مَعَ رسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، مَعَنا أَبُو بكْر وَعُمَرُ رضيَ الله عنهما في نَفَرٍ، فَقَامَ رسول اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم مِنْ بَيْنِ أَظْهُرِنَا، فَأَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا، فَخَشينَا أَنْ يُقْتَطَعَ دُونَنَا، فَفَزِعْنا، فَقُمْنَا، فَكُنْتُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ فَزِعَ، فَخَرَجْتُ أَبْتَغِي رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ حَائِطًا لِلأَنْصَارِ وَذَكَرَ الحديث بطُولِه إِلى قوله: فقالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «اذْهَبْ، فَمَنْ لَقِيتَ وَرَاءَ هَذَا الحَائِطِ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَه إلَّا الله، مُسْتَيقِنًا بهَا قَلَبُهُ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِالجَنَّةِ» رواه مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and with us were Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them), among a group of men. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) rose from among us and was slow in returning, so we feared that he might be seized away from us, and we became alarmed and stood up. I was the first to be alarmed, so I went out seeking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until I came to a garden belonging to the Ansar—and he related the hadith at length up to his words: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go, and whomever you meet behind this wall who testifies that there is no god but Allah, his heart certain of it, give him glad tidings of Paradise." نفر: الرجال من الثلاثة إلى التسعة. من بين أظهرنا: أي من بيننا. يُقتطع: يؤخذ ويصيبه ضرر. فزِعنا: قمنا سريعا لنبحث عنه. أبتغي: أطلب وأبحث. حائطًا: بستانًا. مستيقنًا: موقنًا ومصدقًا.
"A group (nafar)": men from three to nine in number. "From among us (min bayni azhurina)": that is, from among us. "Seized (yuqtata')": taken and harmed. "We became alarmed (fazi'na)": we rose quickly to search for him. "Seeking (abtaghi)": looking for and searching. "A garden (ha'itan)": an orchard. "Certain (mustayqinan)": convinced and affirming.
