عن أَنسٍ رضيَ اللهُ عنه، قال: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلى النبيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم فقال: يا رسولَ اللهِ أَصَبْتُ حدًّا فَأَقِمْهُ عَلَيَّ، وَحَضَرتِ الصَّلاةُ، فَصَلَّى مَعَ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلاةَ قال: يا رسولَ اللهِ؛ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ حدًّا، فأَقِمْ فيَّ كتَابَ اللهِ، قال: «هَلْ حَضَرْتَ مَعَنَا الصَّلاَةَ؟» قال: نَعم، قال: «قد غُفِرَ لَكَ» متفقٌ عليه.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed an offense deserving a prescribed penalty, so carry it out upon me." The time for prayer had come, so he prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he had finished the prayer, the man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed an offense deserving a prescribed penalty, so carry out upon me the ruling of Allah." He said, "Did you attend the prayer with us?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have been forgiven." Agreed upon.
الشرح · explanation
أَصَبْتُ حَدًّا: معناه: مَعْصِيَةً تُوجِبُ التَّعْزير، وَليس المُرَادُ الحَدَّ الشَّرْعِيَّ الْحقيقيَّ كَحَدِّ الزِّنَا والخمر وَغَيْرِهمَا، فَإِنَّ هَذِهِ الحُدودَ لا تَسْقُطُ بِالصلاةِ، ولا يجوزُ للإمام تَرْكُهَا.
"I have committed an offense deserving a prescribed penalty": this means a sin that warrants a disciplinary penalty (ta'zir), and what is intended is not the actual legal prescribed penalty (hadd) such as the penalty for adultery, intoxicants, and the like, for these prescribed penalties are not dropped by prayer, nor is it permissible for the leader to omit them.
