عن أنس رضي اللهُ عنه قال: قالَ رسول الله صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِنَّ الله لَيَرضَى عن الْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الأَكلَةَ فَيحْمَدَهُ عليها، أَوْ يَشْربَ الشَّرْبَةَ فَيَحْمدَهُ عَليها» رواه مسلم.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah is indeed pleased with the servant who eats a meal and praises Him for it, or drinks a draught and praises Him for it." Narrated by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
الأَكْلَة: وهي المرَّةُ الواحدةُ مِنَ الأَكلِ، كَالْغَدْوةِ والْعَشْوَةِ. فيحمده: الحمد: الثناء على المحمود بجميل صفاته وإنعامه، وهو أبلغ من الشكر.
"a meal" (al-aklah): a single instance of eating, like a morning meal or an evening meal. "and praises Him": al-hamd is praising the praised one for his beautiful attributes and his bestowal of favor, and it is more comprehensive than mere thanks (shukr).
