Riyad Al Salihin

Abu Umamah Sudayy ibn Ajlan al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is nothing more beloved to Allah the Exalted than two drops and two marks: a drop of tears from the fear of Allah, and a drop of blood shed in the path of Allah; and as for the two marks: a mark in the path of Allah the Exalted, and a mark left by an obligatory duty among the obligatory duties of Allah the Exalted." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: A good hadith.

The merit of weeping out of fear of Allah the Exalted, because it is a proof of true faith in Allah. The virtue of jihad in the path of Allah, such that Allah the Exalted loves the mark that remains, after it has healed, from a sword blow or a spear thrust in jihad in His path. The recommendation of leaving the mark of an obligatory duty, such as the moisture on the limbs of ablution if no harm is feared, and the mark of prostration. The varying degrees of righteous deeds.
