Al-Irbad ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) admonished us with an admonition that made hearts tremble and eyes shed tears... The hadith has already been presented under number 157.
الشرح · explanation
موعظة: من الوعظ وهو النصح والتذكير بالعواقب. بليغة: مؤثرة تبلغ سويداء القلب وتؤثر فيه. وجلت: خافت. ذرفت: أي دمعت وسالت.
An admonition: from exhortation, which is counsel and reminding of the consequences. Eloquent: affecting, reaching the innermost depths of the heart and influencing it. Trembled: feared. Shed tears: that is, wept and flowed.
