عن سَهْلِ بنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعديِّ رضيَ اللهُ عنه قال: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «لَوْ كَانَتِ الدُّنْيَا تَعْدِلُ عِنْدَ اللهِ جَنَاحَ بَعُوضَةٍ ، مَا سَقَى كَافرًا منْها شَرْبَةَ مَاءٍ» رواه الترمذي وقال حديث حسن صحيح.
Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If this world were worth so much as the wing of a mosquito in the sight of Allah, He would not have given a disbeliever so much as a drink of water from it." [Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith]

تعدل: تساوي وتزن. بعوضة: هو ما يعرف بالناموس.
Ta'dilu: it equals and weighs the same as. Ba'udah: this is what is known as the gnat or mosquito.

هوان الكافر على الله تعالى وسقوطه عنده. الدنيا ليس لها أي قيمة أو قدر إذا قصدت لنفسها، وإنما قيمتها إذا جعلت طريقًا للآخرة ومزرعة للأعمال الصالحة. الأعمال الصالحة ليست من الدنيا المحتقرة.
The insignificance of the disbeliever before Allah, the Exalted, and his worthlessness in His sight. This world has no value or worth if it is sought for its own sake; its value lies only in being made a path to the Hereafter and a field for righteous deeds. Righteous deeds are not part of the world that is held in contempt.
