Ibn Abbas and Imran ibn al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I looked into Paradise and saw that most of its people were the poor; and I looked into the Hellfire and saw that most of its people were women." Agreed upon.
I looked: I gazed and observed closely. And saw: that is, I came to know. It is possible that this looking took place on the Night of the Ascension, and it is possible that it occurred when it was disclosed to him during his prayer at the eclipse.

The poor in Paradise are more numerous than the rich. The poor person did not enter Paradise because of his poverty, but rather entered it through his righteous deeds along with his poverty and patience. The meaning is not that the poor person is absolutely superior to the rich; rather it means that the poor in this world are more numerous than the rich, and he informed of that. An encouragement to abandon excessive indulgence in this world and seeking more of its enjoyments. What is meant by women here are those who disobey Allah the Exalted, do not fulfill His rights, and are ungrateful for kindness and good treatment. Urging women to perform righteous deeds so that they may protect themselves from the Fire.
