Muhammad ibn Sirin reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: There was a time when I would fall down unconscious in the space between the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the chamber of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and someone would come and place his foot upon my neck, thinking I was mad, though there was no madness in me; it was nothing but hunger. Reported by al-Bukhari.
I fall down (akhirru): I collapse. Unconscious (maghshiyyan 'alayya): in a faint, which is the loss of consciousness together with a slackening of the limbs. He places his foot upon my neck: such was the custom with one thought to have fallen on account of madness, so that he would come to.
