عن أبي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي اللهُ عنه، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «لَيس الْغِنَى عَنْ كثْرَةِ العَرَضِ، وَلكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Richness is not in the abundance of worldly goods, but rather true richness is the richness of the soul." [Agreed upon]
الشرح · explanation
العَرَض: أي المَال والمتاع. غنى النفس: الاستغناء والقناعة بما قسم الله، وعدم الإلحاح في طلب المزيد.
Worldly goods ('arad): that is, wealth and possessions. Richness of the soul: self-sufficiency and contentment with what Allah has apportioned, and not persistently seeking more.
