Riyad Al Salihin

Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has succeeded who has accepted Islam, has been provided with sufficiency, and whom Allah has made content with what He has granted him." [Muslim]

Succeeded: won and attained his goal. Sufficiency (kafaf): the measure of one's need, neither more nor less; it is so called because it restrains a person from begging others and makes him independent of them. Made him content: brought him to satisfaction.

The head of all good and success is Islam, and it is the foundation for the acceptance of deeds. The excellence of one whom Allah the Exalted has made independent of begging others, even if with little. The superiority of sufficiency over both wealth and poverty, since wealth may lead to insolence just as poverty may bring humiliation.
