عن ابن عمر رضي اللهُ عنهما: أَنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «لا تَزَالُ المَسأَلَةُ بِأَحَدِكُمْ حَتَّى يَلْقَى اللهَ تعالى ولَيْسَ في وَجْهِهِ مُزْعَةُ لَحْمٍ» متفقٌ عليه.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person keeps on begging from others until he meets Allah the Exalted with not a scrap of flesh on his face." [Agreed upon]
الشرح · explanation
المسألة: طلب العطاء من الآخرين. يلقى الله: يحشر يوم القيامة. مُزْعَة: قِطْعَة. وليس في وجهه مزعة لحم: قيل: هو على ظاهره عقوبة له وعلامة على ذنبه إذ أراق ماء وجهه وكرامته في الدنيا.
Begging: seeking gifts from others. Meets Allah: is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. Scrap (muz'ah): a small piece. With not a scrap of flesh on his face: it is said that this is to be taken literally, as a punishment for him and a mark of his sin, since he forfeited the dignity and honor of his face in this world.

التنفير من السؤال من غير حاجة والإلحاح فيه، لما يورثه من ذل في الدنيا وعذاب في الآخرة. من الطرق اللطيفة في التنبيه على خطأ عام عدم توجيه الكلام لشخص بعينه أو فئة بعينها، بل التحذير من نفس الفعل ببيان عاقبته، وكان هذا من هديه صلّى الله عليه وسلّم.
Discouragement from begging without need and being insistent in it, because of the humiliation it brings in this world and the punishment in the Hereafter. Among the gentle ways of pointing out a general fault is not directing the words to a particular person or group, but rather warning against the act itself by clarifying its outcome; and this was among the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
