عن ثوبان رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنهُ قال، قال رَسُول اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّم: «منْ تكفَّلَ لي أَنْ لا يَسألَ النّاسَ شيئًا وأَتكفَّلُ له بالجنَّةِ؟» فقلت: أنا. فكانَ لا يَسأَلُ أحدًا شيئًا. رواه أبو داود بإسناد صحيح.
Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will pledge to me that he will not ask people for anything, and I will pledge Paradise for him?" I said: I will. So he never asked anyone for anything. Narrated by Abu Dawud with an authentic chain.

البشارة بحسن الخاتمة لمن التزم ألّا يسأل الناس شيئًا. الحثّ على عدم سؤال الناس، وأن يقتصر المرء على سؤال الله تعالى وحده. فضيلة التعفّف عن سؤال الناس، وهذه منزلة عالية في الصبر والتوكل على الله تعالى، ويستثنى منه إذا خاف على نفسه الموت. فضيلة ثوبان رضي الله عنه.
Glad tidings of a good ending for whoever commits himself to not asking people for anything. Encouragement not to ask people, and that a person should restrict his asking to Allah Most High alone. The virtue of refraining from asking people; this is a lofty station in patience and reliance upon Allah Most High, with an exception when one fears death for himself. The virtue of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him).
