عن أبي هريرة رضي اللهُ عنه، عنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «كان دَاوُودُ عليهِ السَّلامُ لا يَأْكُلُ إِلَّا مِن عَملِ يَدِهِ» رواه البخاري.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "David (peace be upon him) used to eat only from the work of his own hand." Narrated by al-Bukhari.

الحثّ على العمل، وأن يكون رزقه من كسبه وثمرة جهده، كما كان يفعل داوود عليه السلام. التأسّي بالأنبياء في تحصيل رزقهم بالعمل لا بالسؤال.
Encouragement to work, and that one's provision should come from one's own earning and the fruit of one's effort, as David (peace be upon him) used to do. Emulating the prophets in obtaining their provision through work rather than through begging.
