عَنْ أَسماءَ بِنْتِ أبي بكرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُما قالت: قال لي رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «لا تُوكِي فَيُوكَى عَلَيْكِ». وفي روايةٍ «أَنفِقِي، أَوِ انْفَحِي، أَوِ انْضِحِي، وَلا تُحْصِي فَيُحْصي الله عَلَيكِ، وَلا تُوعِي فَيُوعِي اللهُ عَلَيْكِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Asma' bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Do not withhold, lest it be withheld from you." In another narration: "Spend, or give, or bestow, and do not count, lest Allah count against you; and do not hoard, lest Allah hoard against you." Agreed upon.

لا توكي: لا تدخري وتشدي ما عندك وتمنعي ما في يدك. فيوكى عليك: أي يمنعك الله ويقطع الرزق عنك. انْفَحِي: أي أنفقي وأعطي. انْضِحِي: أي رشّي وأعطي. ولا تحصي: أي لا تمسكي ولا تعدّي. فيحصي: أي يمسك ويقلّل رزقك، ويناقشك الحساب يوم القيامة. ولا توعي: أي لا تجمعي وتدّخري وتمنعي ما فضل وزاد عنك. فيوعي الله عليك: أي يصيبك الله بالشدّة، أو يمنع عنك فضله وجوده.
Do not withhold (la tuki): do not hoard and tie up what you have, withholding what is in your hand. Lest it be withheld from you: that is, Allah will withhold from you and cut off your provision. Give (infahi): that is, spend and give. Bestow (indihi): that is, sprinkle out and give. And do not count (la tuhsi): that is, do not hold back and tally. Lest He count (fa-yuhsi): that is, He will hold back and reduce your provision, and will call you to a strict reckoning on the Day of Resurrection. And do not hoard (la tu'i): that is, do not gather up, store away, and withhold what is surplus and beyond your need. Lest Allah hoard against you: that is, Allah will afflict you with hardship, or withhold from you His bounty and generosity.

الحثّ على الإنفاق، والتخويف من البخل والإمساك. التنفير من إحصاء النفقة التي قد تكون سببًا لذهاب البركة. من عدل الله تعالى أن جعل الجزاء من جنس العمل. ترك الجزع والهلع في إحصاء الطعام والشراب والخوف من نقصه أو فنائه خاصة عند إرادة التصدّق. أنّ رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم يقول لأسماء كلامًا لطيفًا فيه لفتة وتنبيه إيمانيّ.
Encouragement toward spending, and a warning against miserliness and withholding. Discouragement from counting what one spends, which may be a cause for the loss of blessing. It is from the justice of Allah that He has made the recompense of the same kind as the deed. Abandoning anxiety and dread over counting one's food and drink and fearing its decrease or depletion, especially when intending to give charity. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed Asma' with gentle words containing a subtle, faith-rooted reminder.
