Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives in charity the equivalent of a date from good (lawful) earnings -- and Allah accepts only what is good -- Allah accepts it with His right hand, then nurtures it for its owner just as one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain." Agreed upon.
The equivalent of (bi-'adl): that is, the value of, or what is equal to. From good earnings: that is, from lawful provision free of deception and fraud. Accepts it with His right hand: we believe in this without likening Him to anything, nor do we ask how; rather we affirm it for Allah as He has affirmed it for Himself, the Glorified, in a manner befitting Him, the Mighty and Majestic. His foal (faluww): his colt.

Allah accepts charity only from what is lawful and good, for one who gives in charity from the unlawful does not own it and is forbidden from disposing of it. When a Muslim gives charity from good earnings, Allah brings it to perfection until it grows through multiplication so that it becomes like a mountain. Allah is exalted above resembling His creation; whatever Allah has described Himself with, or His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) has described Him with, we believe in without negation and without likening Him to creation.
