عَنْ أبي سِرْوَعَةَ -بِكَسْرِ السِّيْنِ المُهْمَلَةِ- عُقْبَةَ بنِ الحارِثِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ ابْنَةً لأبي إِهابِ بنِ عَزِيزٍ، فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فقالتْ: إِنِّي قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُ عُقْبَةَ وَالَّتي قَدْ تَزَوَّجَ بها ، فقال لَها عُقبةُ: ما أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكِ أَرضَعْتِني وَلاَ أَخْبَرتِني، فَرَكِبَ إِلى رسُولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم بالمَدِينَةِ، فَسَأَلَهُ، فقال رسُولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «كَيْفَ وَقَدْ قِيلَ؟!» ففَارقَهَا عُقْبَةُ ونكَحَتْ زَوْجًا غيرَهُ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Abu Sirwa'ah—with a kasrah on the unpointed sin—'Uqbah ibn al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he married a daughter of Abu Ihab ibn 'Aziz. Then a woman came to him and said: I have suckled both 'Uqbah and the woman he has married. 'Uqbah said to her: I do not know that you suckled me, nor did you inform me. So he rode to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Medina and asked him about it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How can it be, when it has already been said?!" So 'Uqbah separated from her, and she married another husband. Narrated by al-Bukhari.

فركب: أي سافر راكبًا من مكة إلى المدينة . كيف: سؤال استنكار أي كيف تستمر العلاقة الزوجية بينكما. وقد قيل: أي وقد قيل إنكما أخوان من الرضاعة.
"He rode": that is, he traveled on a mount from Mecca to Medina. "How can it be": a question of disapproval, that is, how can the marital relationship continue between you both? "When it has already been said": that is, when it has already been said that you two are foster-siblings through suckling.

لما كان كلام المرأة غير كافٍ في إثبات الرضاعة هنا كان في إشارة النبيّ صلّى الله عليه وسلّم له بمفارقتها توجيه له بالأخذ بالأحوط إغلاقا لباب الوسوسة والشك. قول بعض العلماء بقبول شهادة المرأة الواحدة على الرضاعة. "كيف وقد قيل" أصبحت مثلا يُضرب في الحثّ على ترك كل أمر يكثر اللغط والكلام حوله.
Since the woman's testimony was insufficient to establish the suckling here, the Prophet's directing him (peace and blessings be upon him) to separate from her was guidance to take the more cautious course, in order to close the door to obsessive misgivings and doubt. The view of some scholars that the testimony of a single woman regarding suckling is accepted. "How can it be, when it has already been said" became a proverb cited to encourage abandoning any matter around which much idle talk and gossip abound.
